A Liberty County drug dog unit discovered narcotics during a traffic stop on March 27 in Hinesville, according to Liberty County Sheriffs Office Maj. Jeff Hein.
Hein said the deputy and his dog walked around a vehicle driven by Charles Nelson, 45, at the intersection of E.G. Miles and Veterans Parkway when they discovered heroin, marijuana, methamphetamine, Ecstasy (MDMA), prescription medication and digital scales.
Nelson was arrested and charged with trafficking heroin, possession of heroin with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possession of Ecstasy with intent to distribute, possession of a schedule II controlled substance with intent to distribute and possession of tools for the commission of a crime.
Hein said Nelson went before a magistrate judge March 28 and bond was denied.
