June 22: Theft by taking, criminal trespass — A deputy was called to West Highway 196 after a Hinesville man’s stepfather trespassed onto his property. The complainant kicked his stepfather off of the property and then discovered a steel weightlifting bar and three dumbbells missing. He told the deputy that his stepfather often would take steel items and sell them to Coastal Recycling Center for beer money. He provided the deputy with his stepfather’s address, but the offender was not there when the deputy arrived at the residence.

June 23
Disorderly conduct, public drunkenness — A deputy was dispatched to Pate Rogers Road, where a resident reported a disturbance.
The alleged offender stood on the side of the road with his mother and explained to the deputy that he had an altercation with the complainant’s son. The offender admitted to drinking and was told to stay put while the deputy spoke with the complainant. The complainant said the alleged offender stood in her yard yelling obscenities. She told him to go away and closed the door, but he came and knocked several times and threatened to beat up the complainant’s son.
As the deputy was speaking with the complainant, the alleged offender walked off. His mother did not know where he went. The deputy found the offender with a beer in his hand and told him to put it down. He finished the beer before setting it down and was arrested.
