Dec. 1: Suspending driver’s license, speeding — A 28-year-old Jacksonville  man was stopped by an LCSO deputy at 1:17 a.m. for driving 95 mph in a 55 mph zone. A check of the man’s Florida driver’s license revealed it was suspended. He was arrested and charged with speeding and driving on a suspended license. His vehicle was towed.

Dec. 4
Possession/manufacture/distribution of controlled substance, possession and use of drug-related object, speeding — A 39-year-old New Smyrna, Fla. man was stopped by a Georgia trooper for exceeding the speed limit. Suspicious of drug possession, the trooper asked for LCSO back-up with a K-9. The dog found suspected marijuana hidden inside the vehicle, despite efforts to conceal the smell with several air fresheners and open containers of laundry detergent. The driver also was found to be carrying $620 cash. He was arrested and taken to the Liberty County Jail, and then released on bond.

Dec. 7
Public drunkenness — Two LCSO deputies were dispatched to Mt. Olivett Church Road near Fleming in response to a domestic dispute. They found a 42-year-old Midway woman sitting on the ground near a ditch. Her face and forehead were scratched. She denied having been involved in a altercation, saying she was alone. She was asked to walk with deputies to the patrol car. She stumbled and was noticeably unstable. She was given a Breathalyzer test, which she failed. She admitted having been drinking, but said it was only beer, no drugs. When asked how much she drank, she said a six-pack. When asked what kind of beer she drank, she said vodka. She was arrested and charged with public drunkenness.
