April 26: Burglary — A man reported a broken window at another residence in the 2400 block of Caswell Boulevard, and the responding officer noticed there were two TVs lying on a floor but was not sure whether they were left that way by burglars or by their owner. He contacted the resident, who said she has been away from the house for about a month, and they deduced that only a $250 laptop was taken from the home.

Possession of marijuana, drug paraphernalia — A Hinesville man was arrested for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia after being stopped for not wearing a seat belt. The stop was conducted near the Farm Bureau on E.G. Miles Parkway at 12:40 p.m., and officers reportedly found marijuana and a mechanic’s socket that had been burned and contained a green leafy substance. The man reportedly was released on his own recognizance due to an agreement with a drug agent.

April 27
Forgery, theft by deception — A man reported that his ex-wife had illegally written checks in his name and made them out to his daughter. Due to the checks, the man reportedly found out he had a negative balance of $3,861. The case was passed to the detectives division.

Shoplifting — A Hinesville man was arrested for shoplifting at Walmart around noon after a loss-prevention employee saw the man reportedly place three Xbox games in his clothes. He reportedly was apprehended at GameStop trying to sell the games. He was taken into custody and issued a bond of $812.
