Deputies stopped a vehicle that did not have a proper tag displayed. As the deputy walked toward the vehicle, he saw a tag in the driver’s rear dashboard and window area. A check revealed the tag was listed as stolen from the Chatham County area. The driver told the deputy he purchased the vehicle from a woman in Chatham County and tried, but was unable to get a new tag. Deputies contacted the woman who acknowledged she filed a false report. The deputies notified Chatham County about the false report filed by the woman.

After making a traffic stop, deputies determined the driver seemed disoriented and wasn’t making sense. Tests revealed the man was under the influence of alcohol and he told deputies he had taken four pills to help him sleep. Deputies also found a toy pistol under the center armrest. While being transporting to jail, the man told deputies he wanted to kill himself and was going to pull the toy gun on them so they would have to shoot him. He was taken to Liberty Regional Medical Center for evaluation but later released back to the deputies after telling hospital employees he had lied because he was being arrested.
