Burglary — A Midway woman residing on Pine Avenue reported her house was burglarized. She said the only items taken were chicken and pork chops.
July 28
Battery — A deputy was dispatched to the jail after a Hinesville woman was involved in a physical altercation. She was at a family reunion on Cooper Lane and got into what started as a verbal argument with another woman. The complainant walked away but then was hit with a bottle by the other woman. This started the fight, which was soon broken up, and the other woman fled the scene. The complainant feared the other woman would attack her again.
Disorderly conduct — A deputy responded to a disturbance on Lakeside Drive in Midway after a woman drove down the street and, when turning around, witnessed an elderly woman step in front of her car. The complainant said that the elderly woman began cursing at her for speeding down the street. She attempted to drive around the elderly woman, who then reportedly hit her car with a bucket. The elderly woman said that the complainant cursed at her after she told her to slow down. She said she did not hit the vehicle with a bucket.
DUI, driving while license suspended or revoked (misdemeanor) — A deputy observed a white pickup make an improper right turn onto West Oglethorpe Highway. The deputy initiated a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, who told the deputy that his license was not valid. The driver smelled of alcohol and admitted to having alcoholic beverages before driving his vehicle.
He was given a Breathalyzer test, which was positive for alcohol, and a 911 dispatcher advised the deputy that the driver’s license was suspended and three warrants existed for his arrest.
July 29
Theft by taking, misdemeanor — A deputy was dispatched to Charlie Butler Road in Midway for a reported theft of a tractor battery. The complainant went to start the tractor and noticed the battery was missing. The last time the complainant saw the battery was Friday, when he last used the tractor. He didn’t know who could have taken it.
DUI, driving while license suspended or revoked (misdemeanor) — A deputy driving on West Oglethorpe Highway in Hinesville spotted a Chevrolet Tahoe weaving.
The deputy stopped the vehicle and made contact with the driver, who had bloodshot eyes and slurred speech.
He gave the deputy his driver’s license ,which was checked to be cancelled due to a previous DUI. The driver admitted to drinking the night before and agreed to take a breath test, which showed that alcohol was present. He was arrested.
When asked if he would take a state administered chemical test, he did not answer and then eventually refused to take it.
