Stolen vehicle
East Oglethorpe Highway, Hinesville
A deputy was dispatched to Lewis Frasier Road in reference to a possible wreck. The deputy found a black Dodge pickup truck in the woods and the driver had left the scene. The deputy discovered the vehicle was registered to one person but the identification card in someone else’s name was found inside the vehicle. It was apparent to the deputy the vehicle was driven off the roadway, hit a power pole and came to rest on the edge of the woods. A few hours later, an individual called 911 to report his black truck was stolen. The deputy went to speak with the man who said he washed his truck and parked it in front of his house the previous day. When he woke up, it was missing. He told the deputy he kept spare keys under the truck’s fender.

Complainants reported their drunken neighbor was yelling and cussing at them and pointed a gun at their faces. When deputies arrived, the neighbor had already left the scene and witnesses could not verify whether they saw a gun. They were advised on how to pursue the matter.

Deputies detained and then arrested a woman who was extremely intoxicated and walking across Georgia 38 in traffic. The woman was tased when she continually resisted arrest. The deputy eventually controlled her long enough to handcuff her and take her to jail.

A complainant reported a window a/c unit had been removed and someone had entered his home. Ironically, the items reported stolen were his home security cameras. He told deputies only a few people knew about the cameras and they took the time to disconnect them properly. He also said someone knew the cameras would not be recording that day.

A man, who stopped to put some water in his truck, was reportedly struck in the back of the head for no apparent reason. The man said he fell to the ground and only saw a glimpse of someone wearing a black hat and a white shirt with a number on it. Warrant procedures were explained.

Georgia Highway 405
A deputy stopped a driver for failing to maintain his lane. The deputy questioned the driver and two passengers and found their behavior to be a bit odd. The driver did not have a license on her person and the front seat passenger ignored the deputy’s questioning. The deputy asked everyone to step out of the vehicle and asked whether drugs or any illegal substances were in the car. They answered no and did not consent to a vehicle search without their attorney present. The deputy walked his K-9 around the exterior of the car and got a positive alert. The deputy informed them that, due to the dog’s positive alert for possible drugs, he was going to search the vehicle. The deputy discovered the trunk of the car was loaded with items, such as CDs, clothing and XBox games that still had the anti-theft devices and store stickers attached. Also, marijuana resident was reported found in the vehicle. The case was turned over to detective and the three subjects were arrested.

A man was charged with DUI after speeding away from a deputy while he was being pursued. Once he stopped, the deputy detected an odor of alcohol and the driver could not locate his license. He also refused to give a breath sample after being taken to jail.

A woman reported someone removed her mailbox from its post overnight. She believed someone who used to taunt her son while he lived with her might have been responsible.
