A Fleming resident was arrested in Pooler along with three other men following an investigation by the FBI’s Southeast Georgia Child Exploitation Task Force and Pooler Police Department.
James Daniel Leahy, 29, of Fleming, was arrested on state felony charges of sexual exploitation of children, Special Agent J. Britt Johnson with the FBI’s Atlanta Field Office said in a news release.
Along with Leahy, Enoc Jose Jerez, 35, and Joshua R. Smith, 21, both of Savannah, and William David McTagger, 22, of Albion, Illinois, were arrested after traveling to Pooler to have sex with a minor, Johnson said.
The Southeast Georgia Child Exploitation Task Force, which includes agents from the FBI, Georgia Bureau of Investigation, Liberty and Effingham county sheriff’s offices and Pooler Police Department, locates juveniles who are being sexually exploited through prostitution. The task force also identifies and arrests those suspected of exploiting the children.
The four men were processed and initially held at the Georgia Detention Facility in Chatham County.
