The Long County Courthouse will be closed this week due to removal of recently discovered mold.

The Long County Commission held a special called meeting Friday to address the matter. According to Long County Commission Chairman Robert Long, Serclean, a mold testing and removal company out of Savannah, discovered traces of mold in the building. At their November meeting, commissioners approved having the company come in and check the building after concerns were brought to them. Long said the courthouse will be closed this entire week so that the Savannah company can remove the mold and treat the building.

The courthouse was built in the early 1920s after Long County was incorporated Aug. 14, 1920.
