The Multi Agency Crack Enforcement Drug Task Force, along with the Hinesville Police Department and the Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force, helped the U.S. Marshals Savannah Office track down and arrest a fugitive wanted by the Leon County Sheriff’s Department in Tallahassee, Fla.
Michael Golden, 30, was sought on a state warrant for aggravated battery issued in March.
Golden allegedly battered a woman with a baseball bat and had an outstanding violation of probation warrant in Florida.
He was arrested on May 10 when MACE tracked him to his mother’s house in Hinesville.
According to MACE Commander Al Cato, agents also helped marshals arrest Golden in 2006 when he faced Florida charges for aggravated battery and stalking another woman.
The U.S. Marshals Tallahassee Office of the Florida Regional Fugitive Task Force generated the leads that put Golden in Hinesville. Information was passed to the U.S. Marshals Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force in Savannah who called the MACE. MACE located two possible vehicles tracing back to Golden at an address of 909 Willowbrook Drive.
MACE agents and marshals set up surveillance of the residence while waiting on additional officers to arrive.
At one point, agents saw Golden on a porch of the residence and with additional back up units, he was arrested, taken to the Liberty County Jail and extradited to Florida.
