A 59-year-old man died after he was stabbed multiple times Tuesday afternoon at Treetop Apartments in Hinesville, according to Hinesville Police Department Chief of Detectives Maj. Thomas Cribbs.
The victim’s name will not be released until police can notify the next of kin.
When police and first responders arrived shortly after 2:30 p.m. at the complex in the 600 block of Taylor Road, they found the bleeding victim lying on the pavement. He was taken to Liberty Regional Medical Center and later to Memorial University Medical Center in Savannah, where he was pronounced dead.
Police apprehended a suspect, Christian Thomas, 21, of Hinesville in connection with the incident, according to Lt. Terranova Smith and Patrol Officer Kevin Zieran
Zieran spotted Thomas walking near the police department around 7:30 p.m. and called for backup. Smith arrived and contacted Thomas, who was in the vicinity of McDonald’s on Oglethorpe Highway and the police station. The authorites ordered Thomas to surrender and he obeyed without incident.
Thomas was arrested and charged with first-degree murder. Cribbs said he will appear before a judge later this week.
