Online relationship leads to alleged theft

Recent reports filed with the Hinesville Police Department include:

Sept. 12
Theft by taking — An officer was dispatched to 215 Easy St. in reference to the reported theft of $800.
The complainant stated that a man she met on the website OKCupid.com came to stay at her residence after corresponding for several days online. She said that she gave the man free run of her home while she was away at work. When she came home from work, she noticed the money missing and called the police.
She said the man also left his X-Box 360 and several games at her home.

Sept. 13
Simple battery — An officer was dispatched to 601 Saunders Ave. in response to a reported domestic disturbance.
The complainant said she was playing music on her phone when her male friend became upset and started screaming at her. She said they got into a heated argument, and the man punched her in the mouth.
The complainant said she defended herself before leaving the apartment to call authorities.
