SAVANNAH — As it prepares to select a second class of cadets, the Peace Officer Academy at Savannah Technical College will have information sessions at 12:30 p.m. today and 6 p.m. Thursday. Both sessions will be in the academy area in Goodman Hall on the college’s White Bluff campus. Information sessions are free and open to the public.
The academy provides basic law enforcement training for those seeking certification as officers and deputies through the Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training Council.
Applicants are required to undergo a criminal background check and medical exam. Additionally, they are required to meet minimum scores in English, reading, and math. The program follows a special schedule for tuition and is HOPE grant eligible.
Classes begin April 20. Applications are due by April 1. For more information, call Sharon Hunter at (912) 443-5191 or e-mail
