The Riceoboro Post Office was robbed at about 2:45 p.m. Thursday by an armed man who reportedly entered the building through a rear door, likely behind a post office employee, according to Liberty County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Keith Moran.
The man held up the clerk working the front desk and took an undisclosed amount of cash before exiting the same way he came in.
Authorities used a K-9 squad in an attempt to track the suspect but were unsuccessful. It’s unknown whether he left on foot or in a vehicle. The suspect still is at large, Moran said.
The sheriff’s office turned the case, which still is under investigation, over to the U.S. Postal Inspection Service.
