Hinesville Police are still searching for Michael Earl Palmer, who allegedly robbed the PetSmart on Oglethorpe Highway on June 22.

Palmer reportedly passed a threatening note to a cashier and made off with an undisclosed amount of money, according to HPD Det. Chris Reid.

A witness was able to identify Palmer as the alleged suspect.

Palmer has a criminal history. In 2008 he was arrested and charged with burglary. He accepted a plea as a first offender, was fined $1,000 and sentenced to probation.

However his probation was soon revoked after he was charged with three new counts of burglary, one count of theft by receiving and several counts of theft by deception. The latter charges were called in by the suspect’s mother, who reported her son stole jewelry from her house and tried to pawn it at seven different pawn shops.

His probation was commuted to prison sentence, which he started in 2009. He was released in 2013. Since then, Palmer has been in and out of custody, according to the Georgia Department of Corrections.

His most recent conviction was for theft by receiving stolen property, robbery and aggravated assault in 2015. He served a two-year sentence at Hays State Prison until his release in January.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Palmer is asked to call 912-368-8211.
