The 200 Club of the Coastal Empire, a nonprofit that provides immediate financial assistance to families of first responders who lost their lives in the line of duty, is putting on its sixth annual Shields for Fallen Heroes campaign.

Participants can purchase $1 or $5 shields through Oct. 23 at several locations in the region. Funds raised will be donated to families in many Georgia counties, including Liberty and Long. Families in Beaufort and Jasper counties in South Carolina also will receive funds. Locally, shields can be purchased at Enmark, 715 E. Oglethorpe Highway in Hinesville.
