An armed robber, wearing a Spider-Man mask, hit a Hinesville restaurant Saturday afternoon.

Hinesville Police Det. Joshua Heath said the man entered the Wing Stop in the 400 block of West Gen. Screven Way wearing a long sleeve dark shirt, blue jeans and a Spider-Man mask as the restaurant was getting ready to close about 5 p.m.

The masked assailant asked an employee if he knew what was going on and hit him on his head with what is believed to be a handgun.

The robber rifled through the store’s safe and took an estimated $3,000.

As the robber was removing the money, an employee ran into the kitchen and the suspect followed her, the woman stopped, closed her eyes and dropped everything she was holding and the suspect ran out a back door.

A witness said a dark Ford Focus sped away, but did not know the direction.

The robbery was caught on surveillance video that will not be available till Monday.
