The Liberty Emergency Management Agency is observing Severe Weather Preparedness Week, which runs through Friday. EMA Director Mike Hodges said that since the area is susceptible to a variety of natural disasters and severe weather is dangerous and can strike with little warning, it’s important to prepare in advance. Each day during Severe Weather Preparedness Week focuses on a different type of threat faced by Georgians. Topics include:
• Wednesday: Tornado safety and preparation
• Thursday: Lightning safety
• Friday: Flood safety
On Wednesday, there also will be a statewide tornado drill. For more information about the week and events occurring locally, go to www.libertycountyga.com, email mike.hodges@libertycountyga.com or call 368-2201.
