Toddler drowns in Long Co.
OBIT CDeLoach
Robert Cole Deloach

A 19-month-old Long County child described as “an active  country boy who enjoyed his hunting dogs, chickens, Mickey Mouse and anything outside,” was found drowned in a family pool Sunday morning.

The child, Robert Cole Deloach, was found in a pool at a residence on Winton Cowart Road around 10 a.m., according to Long County Sheriff’s Detective Nicky Anderson.

Ludowici/Long County Volunteer and Rescue Fire Chief Chris Moss said firefighters Bob Hefley and Kaitlyn Walker arrived at the home within two minutes of receiving the call of a possible drowning. Moss said the parents and grandparents were performing CPR on the child when they arrived.

Firefighters then took over, trying to revive the youngster until emergency medical personnel arrived and took the child to Liberty Regional Medical Center in Hinesville where he was later pronounced dead.

Deloach’s obituary said the child “especially” loved “driving Papa’s buggy.  He had a huge spirit for his little body and was a loving and affectionate boy.”

Funeral services were Wednesday at Ludowici First Baptist Church.
