Two tractor-trailers collided about 7 a.m. Tuesday on Interstate 95, near mile marker 47, in McIntosh County, according to Georgia State Patrol Trooper Lyle Thurmond.

The driver of the truck heading north sideswiped a tractor-trailer parked on the side of the road due to mechanical failure. The driver was identified as Mark Wright, 53, of Knoxville, Tenn. The parked truck was driven by Kano Mohamed, 48, of Snellville, who said his brakes locked up.

The impact tore open the side of Wright's vehicle, and a load of beer cans spilled all over the shoulder of the interstate. Wright lost control of his truck and continued for several feet until his cab jumped a guard rail. It came to rest hanging over a marshy area.

Thurmond said Mohamed had put out warning signals to alert motorist. No one was hurt. Wright has been charged with failure to maintain his lane.
