The Liberty County Sheriff’s Office, acting on a tip, made two meth busts Thursday on Mount Olivet Church Road in Fleming. Five suspects were arrested, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office.
The sheriff’s office received notification Thursday that Angela Gibson had purchased pseudoephedrine in Richmond Hill and reportedly was in violation of her monthly limit. Authorities went to investigate at Gibson’s Fleming residence and found the woman and her boyfriend, James Goodmanson, both of whom cooperated and reportedly turned over a small amount of white powder that field-tested positive for methamphetamine.  Deputies also found several items in Gibson’s home that commonly are used to manufacture meth, according to the news release.
Gibson and Goodmanson reportedly admitted to using meth and said they were planning to manufacture more for their personal use. They were arrested and transported to the Liberty County Jail, where their bonds later were set.
After clearing the scene at Gibson’s residence, deputies convened on another Mount Olivet Church Road residence to serve arrest warrants for the Richmond Hill Police Department on Melissa Harvey and Richard Cain for unlawful possession of pseudoephedrine with the intent to manufacture methamphetamine, according to the news release. Authorities determined Cain had a meth lab in his workshop.
With the assistance of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Regional Drug Team, the lab was dismantled without incident.
Cain and Harvey were arrested and taken to the Liberty County Jail for processing and bond hearings.
Stephanie Strickland of Midway also was arrested for the Richmond Hill Police Department for unlawful possession of pseudoephedrine with the intent to manufacture methamphetamine after she showed up at the second residence, according to the news release.
