Authorities are investigating the shooting of two people at a Long County nightspot early Saturday.
The shooting occurred outside the Corner Store on Godfrey Street shortly before 1 am.
Long County Sheriff Craig Nobles said in a phone interview Saturday there was a group of 20-25 people at the bar when two men got into a confrontation. One man, who was shot, was involved in the altercation. The other man was believed to have been a bystander.
Nobles said more than one weapon was used in the shooting.
Spent cartridges were scattered on the ground outside the establishment as officers from the GBI and Long County Sheriff’s Office documented the scene.
Several vehicles also were damaged by gunfire.
The injured were taken to Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah, one by ambulance and the other by medical air evacuation. One of the injured was hit in the chest and the other was shot in the arm and leg. He said both appeared to be in stable condition at the scene.
Nobles has asked the public for help. Anyone with information can call the Long County Sheriff’s Office at 545-2118 or 911.
