Searchers have recovered the body of a Wayne County man who was feared to have drowned Sunday in the Altahama River.
The search for the man continues Monday morning, according to a statement issued from the Wayne County officials.
The EMA office there reported, around 10:30 am Sunday a call was placed to the 911 center of a man believed to be missing at JC Landing east of Jesup on the Long/Wayne county line.
When Wayne County deputies arrived, they began a search for the man, but did not find the man. They did discover a video that showed the man trying to recover his boat, which had drifted. While trying to recover the vessel the man is seen slipping under the water.
Wayne County EMA set up a command post and requested assistance from the Wayne County Search and Rescue. The victim has not been identified. The search continued until midnight Sunday and resumed 6 a.m. Monday and is continuing.
