One man was killed and several other people were injured Monday when a pickup collided head-on with a school bus on Ga. 27/341 near Jesup, according to Georgia State Patrol Trooper Kevin Ziegler of the Brunswick Post. The pickup driver, Samuel Carr, 59, of Odum, was traveling west in a 2008 Chevy Z71 when he hydroplaned and crossed over into the eastbound lane of Ga. 27/341, striking a bus carrying 14 children. The pickup driver was found dead at the scene. Some of the buses’ passengers and its driver sustained minor injuries. The students were coming from Cedar Woods Elementary in Odum, according to the trooper.
