The speed limit on two Georgia highways that cross Fort Stewart returned to 55 mph Monday.
In May the speed limit was reduced to 45 mph because of training for the Oregon National Guard's 41st Infantry Brigade Combat Team. Post officials said reducing the speed limit resulted in safe traffic for military and civilian vehicles. No incidents occurred on the highways where the speed limit was reduced.
Drivers are still urged to drive safely and be aware of military vehicles traveling at 40 mph on the highways or crossing the highways at tank trails.
