MACON — Bibb County's legislative delegation is making another attempt at drafting a consolidation proposal for Macon and the county.
State Rep. Nikki Randall says a gathering at an east Macon recreation center is part of the process.
The Macon Telegraph reports (http://bit.ly/ssRy8R ) Randall said Wednesday that with two new members joining the delegation, the plan is to start from scratch.
The 2011 legislative session ended without passage of a consolidation measure.
A plan written by former Sen. Robert Brown looked like it had the best chance of passing. The session ended before the Senate could consider House amendments.
Points of contention have included the mayor's salary, whether elections would be partisan, the size of a city council and whether a sheriff would serve as chief law enforcer in a merged government.
