PERRY — A Houston County couple, accused of starving their 2-year-old son to death, have been indicted by a Houston County grand jury.
Sade Shamon King, 23, and William Thomas Davis III, 25, were being held Tuesday in the Houston County jail without bond. They are charged with malice murder, felony murder, two counts of cruelty to children and two counts of aggravated battery.
Sheriff’s investigators say the D’Shawn Davis weighed 12 pounds and 6 ounces at his death. An autopsy ruled the toddler’s cause of death as malnutrition.
Houston County District Attorney Rabb Wilkerson says the groundwork has been laid for the death penalty to be sought in the case, but a decision on whether to move forward will not be made until after the Nov. 2 general election. Wilkerson is seeking re-election.
