JESUP — The Georgia Department of Transportation will present the draft fiscal years 2013-16 statewide transportation improvement program for public review and comment.
The STIP is a four-year program that specifies federally funded transportation projects for non-urban communities in rural Georgia for fiscal years 2013-16. These projects include, but are not limited to: new construction, improvements, and maintenance for interstates, and state routes and bridges. Additional projects include bicycle and pedestrian projects, transportation enhancement projects and public-transit projects.
Two open-house meetings during which the public can view the Draft FY 13-16 STIP, view maps of projects in the local area, discuss project with GDOT staff and formally offer comments will be held. The first meeting is 5-7 p.m. Monday in the Waycross Mall, 2215 Memorial Drive; the second meeting is 5-7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 29, in the Statesboro Mall, 718 Northside Drive E. The meetings are open to the public.
The general public is invited to view projects planned for Long, Appling, Bacon, Bulloch, Brantley, Bryan, Charlton, Camden, Candler, Effingham, Evan, Jeff Davis, McIntosh, Montgomery, Pierce, Tattnall, Telfair, Toombs, Wayne and Wheeler counties
The draft also will be available on the Internet at www.dot.ga.gov/stip.
