Lawmaker: Transportation, budgt are critical

Midway Rep. Al Williams said Tuesday that state leaders and General Assembly anticipate funding to be a major issue in next year’s legislative session, and transportation and education are critical areas of concern.

“We have an electorate now — all of us included — that wants the gold standard, but wants to pay almost nothing,” Williams told the Hinesville Rotary Club Tuesday. “We want good police protection; we want the firemen to call and come when the house is on fire; we want the roads paved in the county; we want things to be done. There’s a cost, and so many of us don’t think there should be any cost to government. It’s not possible.”
