The Georgia Department of Transportation prepared to deal with icy highways early Thursday and sent crews out looking for icy patches.
Some icy spots were reported in north Georgia, and five school districts closed their schools for the day. Those districts were in Fannin, Morgan, Town, Rabun and Union counties. Other districts announced delayed openings.
A 10-vehicle pileup was reported in Forsyth County, north of Atlanta.
The snow was moving out of the state and temperatures were expected to reach the 40s during the day.
