Republican physician and state Rep. Ben Watson announced Tuesday that he will run for the open Georgia Senate seat currently held by Sen. Buddy Carter. He represents District 166, which spans coastal Chatham and southeast Bryan counties and borders Liberty.
Dr. Ben Watson is a primary-care physician and a co-founder of SouthCoast Medical. He practices internal medicine with a specialty in geriatrics. He is the only doctor elected to the Georgia House of Representatives. He also is brother-in-law to U.S. Rep. Jack Kingston.
