BRUNSWICK — A 15-year-old faces 10 years in prison for involuntary manslaughter in the December 2007 fatal shooting of his stepfather in Glynn County.
Brandon Betts was to be tried as an adult for murder this week in the death of 37-year-old Louis Hall Jr., but pled guilty to the lesser charge on Monday.
Betts, who also pled guilty to possession of a firearm in the commission of a crime, also must undergo mental health counseling in prison.
Hall had reprimanded Betts for being disrespectful to adults at their mobile home north of Brunswick. Betts went inside, came out with his stepfather’s .22-caliber rifle and shot him in the chest. He told investigators it was an accident.
