XENIA, Ohio A budding YouTube beauty stars first makeup tutorial went in a different but hilarious direction when she discovered scissors in her grandma's makeup bag.
Five-year-old Aubrey loves to make videos of herself, her grandma Debbie Arnold told ABC News. So when Aubrey wanted to make her own makeup tutorial after watching some online videos, her grandma set her up with her tablet and a bag of makeup, and left her to her creative processes.
Unbeknownst to Grandma and Mom, there was a pair of scissors in the bag, too. Aubrey decided her tutorial should also include hair styling and started with her bangs. The minute-long video posted to Facebook shows Aubrey, whos boasting brown lip liner, carefully hacking into her bangs until theres just an inch left.
Her mom and grandma discovered what happened a little too late, but in enough time to save her beautiful, long locks. They ultimately found the situation very amusing.
We set her up in the kitchen and we were in the next room chatting, just figuring she was having a good time and she was, Arnold told ABC News.
Arnolds Facebook video is at 19 million views and counting and has been shared over 203,000 times. While a few Facebook commenters were concerned about a 5-year-old with a sharp object, most relayed their own stories of kids with scissors.
"Yup, every kid cuts their hair some time. Mine climbed a five-shelf bookcase to get the scissors and proceeded to give herself an unintentional mullet," wrote one Facebook user.
"My 6-year-old son and 3-year-old daughter got a hold of scissors back in June (and, yes, we supervise our kids and try to keep scissors away from them but it happens). It was hard to get correction haircuts but they both have learned their lessons!" wrote another user.
Although Aubrey is mildly embarrassed at her new do, her mom and grandma think shell stick to just makeup tutorials from now on.
