MACON — A Macon woman is charged with felony murder after police found her 11-year-old granddaughter dead in a van.

Police say 49-year-old Cynthia Diane Baldwin-McClesky was charged with felony murder late Friday.

She also faces two counts of child cruelty after the body of young Ruth Baldwin was found Thursday inside a van parked at an urgent care center.

The Telegraph newspaper reported Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones said the dead girl looked “real bad,” as though she was malnourished.

Macon police Sgt. Melanie Hofmann says the body showed other signs of physical trauma and neglect.

The girl’s grandmother was booked into the Bibb County jail.

It was not immediately known if she had an attorney.
