Social media was going wild Sept. 9 after reports of a naked woman crashing a pickup into a utility pole was blamed for a seven-hour power outage in Ludowici.
At first, residents weren’t sure if Hurricane Irma had come early.
But according to a Georgia State Patrol incident report, the crazy event shared across Facebook happened.
Crystal Nicole Doherty, 32, of Jesup, has been cited for driving under the influence of drugs, following too closely, driving on a suspended or revoked license and reckless driving after she allegedly rammed the white GMC Sierra truck she was driving into the back of a silver Chevrolet Tahoe driven by Ryheim Izzard.
Izzard was stopped around 3 p.m. at a stop sign at North Macon Street at the intersection of Mitcham Road, according to the incident report.
That’s when Doherty rear-ended Izzard’s vehicle, the report said, and the impact pushed Izzard’s car 150 feet across the intersection before stopping on the side of the road.
The vehicle Doherty was driving, which is registered to Frank Parker, of Ludowici, traveled across the intersection, jumped the curb and smashed into a utility pole, cutting it in half.
The impact caused a transformer on the pole to crash into the back of the pickup.
According to GSP Trooper Michael Leggett, after the truck struck the pole the truck rolled another 39 feet before coming to a stop.
The trooper reported that Izzard was injured. Izzard had someone take him to Wayne Memorial Hospital to be evaluated.
Doherty, who was reportedly not wearing clothes, was taken to Liberty Regional Hospital by Long County EMS.
According to the incident report, drug use is suspected but Doherty reportedly refused a blood test to be screened for drugs.
