A Bradwell Institute student was allegedly assaulted Friday morning while walking to school, according to Hinesville Chief of Police Bill Kirkendall.

Kirkendall said the female student was walking near railroad tracks next to the Harbor Rain apartment complex when she was grabbed by a white man who came from behind bushes and grabbed the students arm.

The student ran to the Silver and Gold pawn shop where she called her mother, who called 911.  The girl told police she was able to pick up a rock and strike the man on the head causing him to fall to the ground.

Kirkendall said a lineup was conducted at the police department with a white male wearing clothes that fit the description given by the girl.  According to Kirkendall, the lineup didn’t pan out because the student told authorities he wasn’t the man who assaulted her.

Kirkendall said the incident is under investigation and anyone with information is asked to call 911 or the Hinesville Police Department 368-8211.
