A fire Sunday on the 5000 block of Islands Highway in Midway destroyed a 97-year-old home shortly before 8 p.m.
The home belonged to Meredith Devendorf Belford and her husband Scott.
The fire used numerous resources from every available fire department in Liberty County and the surrounding area.
The home, along with artifacts stored in the residence, was destroyed.
Firefighters fought the fire for several hours as ammunition and propane tanks exploded.
Meredith Belford said the home sat on a 300-year-old foundation.
