LCSO

A 14-year-old was transported to Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah after accidentally shooting himself Saturday.

According to Liberty County Sheriff’s Office public information officer Lt. Phillip Bohannon, the teen was sitting in the back seat of the vehicle on I-95 when a weapon discharged, hitting him once.

The vehicle was traveling northbound at the time of the shooting, which appears to be self-inflicted.

The driver pulled over to the side of the road at mile marker 69.  There is no information on the victim’s condition other than he was alert and conscious.
