Hinesville United Methodist Church Pastor Dave Hanson commented that some of his friends think he was a personal friend of John Wesley, founder of the Methodist Church.
For many years, Rev. Hanson has lectured and shared information about Wesley, leading Wesley seminars in Africa, Asia and across the U.S.
Hanson has given “John Wesley moments” at sessions of the South Georgia Annual Conference each year, and writes a monthly column on Wesley in the Wesleyan Christian Advocate.
Hanson’s 11 a.m. Sunday sermons in September, on Sept. 9, 16 and 23, will feature facts about Wesley’s family, home life and college experiences, as well as where the first Methodist group was formed. Wesley’s experiences in Georgia and the church founder’s transformative Aldersgate experience will also be explored.
Hinesville UMC is at the corner of South Main Street and Memorial Drive, near the traffic circle.
