On Friday, Nov. 16 the United Way of the Coastal Empire hosted its Victory Luncheon at the Savannah Marriott Riverfront on Nov. 16. This year’s goal was to raise $8 million during the campaign, September to November.
Not only did the United Way reach the goal, it was surpassed. This year, $8,096,729.14 was raised. Gulf Stream was the largest contributor, raising $1.8 million.
“Everyone’s contribution has made the coastal empire a tremendous place to call home,” said Bert Tenenbaum, campaign chair. “Every county exceeded its goal.”
This year, Liberty County increased its goal from last year by more than $30,000. This year’s goal of $202,699 was a big step, but the goal was exceeded.
“We’ve raised $212,000 so far, and we’re not stopping. Right now we are five percent over our goal,” said Leah Poole, area director for Liberty County.
Kim Thomas, campaign chair for Liberty County, was excited as she announced at the luncheon how much was raised in Liberty County.
“This year, I don’t get to say we met our goal, I get to say we exceeded it,” said Thomas.
Every dollar raised in Liberty County will stay in Liberty County.
This year’s winner of the Critz GMC truck giveaway was David Douse of Carver State Bank in Savannah.
