The Hinesville Police Department is investigating the shooting of a man Sunday night in a trailer park.
The victim, identified as a 36-year-old Hinesville resident, is reportedly in stable condition after he was taken by ambulance to Memorial Health University Medical Center where he underwent surgery.
According to an incident report filed by HPD Officer Bryan Johnson, Johnson was on Darsey Road around 10 p.m. Sunday when he heard a loud noise, then got a 911 call regarding a man suffering from a gunshot wound at an address in Victory Village Mobile Home Park on South Main Street.
Johnson reported when got to the mobile home park, he saw a number of people laying on the ground outside Lot 14, then saw a man suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper thigh.
The victim was being treated by Hassan Groves, the report said. Groves, who identified himself as a nurse, applied pressure to the wound to stop the bleeding and continued to do so until emergency medical personnel arrived.
HPD Detective Tracey Howard said there was a party before the shooting, and there are several persons of interest but police haven’t identified a suspect. He asked that anyone with information call HPD at 368-8211.
