The Riceboro community converged in a field adjacent to City Hall to honor and remember their mayor, Joe Harris who passed away from complications related to COVID-19. In attendance was Harris’s mother and grandparents and over 100 residents and friends of Harris. They prayed, and sang as they remembered the 35-year-old educator and politician who served as the city's mayor just under 2 years.

The hour-long event was concluded as candles were lit and held by the crowd in a show of reverence to Harris and his family.
