Daniel Hill, 23, made a first appearance before a Long County magistrate judge Sunday evening and was denied bond in the deaths of Ludowici Police Chief Frank McClelland and motorcyclist Marvin Pope Saturday night on highway 84 in the Ludowici city limits following a high speed police chase which began in Liberty Country.

Flanked by sheriff's deputies and a Georgia State Patrol officer, Hill was taken from the Long County sheriff's office building to a court room located in a building not far from the sheriff's office. Once his appearance was complete, Hill was placed into a waiting sheriff's vehicle and taken back to the Liberty Country Jail in Hinesville.

Hill has been charged with two counts of felony homicide by vehicle, felony murder, fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer, and aggravated assault.
