Around 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, a dead tree fell onto powerlines at the intersection of Memorial Drive and Highway 84, in front of the First Presbyterian Christian Academy.

Affordable Tree Services were contracted to remove multiple dead trees at the corner, according to a Hinesville Police Department officer. The tree, which fell in an unplanned direction, landed on top of the powerlines, knocking out streetlights and power to multiple businesses, including Zaxby’s, the Coastal Courier, HPD and others.

Georgia Power was on the scene working to remove the tree and restore power.
