The League of Women Voters of Coastal Georgia will host a Candidates Forum at 1 p.m. Oct. 12 at the Southwest Chatham Library, 14097 Abercorn Street, in Savannah, for voters to learn more about the issues from State Senator Ben Watson and Democratic candidate Sandra Workman.

The candidates are running for the Georgia Legislature, District 1, which includes portions of Chatham and Liberty counties and Bryan County.

The event is free but attendees need to register at www.LWVCGA.org.

Participants can submit their questions for the candidates via the website. Questions may also be submitted at the event.

Dawn Baker, a WTOC-TV  news anchor, will serve as moderator.

She will pose the public’s questions to the candidates and manage the proceedings. A time keeper will ensure that each candidate has an equal opportunity to address the issues of interest to the audience.

“Voters, this is your chance to look the candidates in the eye and hear their answers to questions that are important to you and your family,” said Cuffy Sullivan, President of the LWVCGA. “As a nonpartisan political organization, the League’s mission is to offer these opportunities for you to hear directly from the candidates in an open, transparent way, and learn where they stand on the issues.”

The public also is encouraged to view the Voters Guide on the League’s website which describes the candidates’ positions on the major issues facing the voters in District 1, as well as other local races.

The 98-year old League of Women Voters has been called the most respected and effective grassroots organization in the country.

Membership is open to men and women of all ages. Learn more at the LWVCGA.org or the League’s Facebook page.
