God sent Paul to preach; like Paul, ‘We preach Christ’

“But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness” 1 Corinthians 1:23

The book of first Corinthians brings to us a wonderful message and beautiful example how God moves. The Corinthian church was young, it was started when God sent the Apostle Paul there to preach and teach, he was there approximately 2 years and the church was formed. Paul’s missionary journeys led him to other regions, but he still had the young believers in his heart and knew they needed help and guidance. To just put it in modern terms there was a lot of wild things going on in the church, pretty much lawlessness; people just doing whatever. The young Christians had lots of zeal and they loved God, the gifts of the spirit were in operation, but they had lost focus. We could call it the church where anything goes, but the problem is it left the door open for sin to come in. As you read first Corinthians you will quickly see there were many problems that needed to be dealt with, but right in chapter one Paul speaking by the Holy Ghost gives the answer for all their problems. And we know that same answer is for you and me today.

He said, “We preach Christ!” I don’t know about you, but my soul is so refreshed when I hear a preacher stand up and just lift up the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Paul said “We preach Christ.” But why did he say it like that, history tells us that He was a very educated man, very high in the Jewish religion, a pharisee of the pharisees, he could have preached a lot of things? But he said, “We preach Christ.”

People have not changed it is the same today as it was back then.  “For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom:” 1 Corinthians 1:22. Some just wanted a show, “a sign,” and some wanted to only gain knowledge, “wisdom.” But Paul was not preaching for people, He was preaching for God. In verse 17 he tells us God sent him to preach Christ. Yes, I know he had to deal with things in the church, but it all led to Christ.

I have the vision in my heart for Hinesville and the Liberty County area, it is revival, revival, revival, to see God move in a special way, divine healing, miracles, the power of God displayed, hearts changed, Satan defeated. Oh, my brethren there is one way this can happen let us preach Christ and Him crucified.

Listen to the Lord’s first recorded message to the devil in the book of Genesis. “And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.” Genesis 3:15. This is the first promise of the coming Messiah, the Christ and we are told he will bruise or crush the serpent’s head. If we want that old serpent crushed in our area we must lift up the only one that can do it, the Lord Jesus Christ.

The Word of God is so Awesome, listen to this:  “And he bearing his cross went forth into a place called the place of a skull, which is called in the Hebrew Golgotha:” John 19:17.  Christ in complete human weakness and suffering knew He had to make it up that hill, for His cross had to be placed on the skull, the head of the serpent.
