As with any job, you have to interview for the position. It should be no different for the candidates who desire to represent the 1st District of Georgia and the state in Washington.   
The citizens of the 1st District and the state are the “employers,” and our congressional representatives should be the “workers” in Washington for and on our behalf.  The congressional representatives — both Senate and House — should do and practice what is best for their constituents and the country as a whole. The same holds true for state and local representatives.
Now more than ever, it is important to every citizen that we elect the right individuals to send to Washington. With Congress at a complete standstill, we need representatives who will make the right decisions without his congressional career or longevity as his primary concern. We need a person who can navigate through the partisan politics, scandals, economic issues and other roadblocks that keep this country at a virtual standstill. We need good leaders who desire to get this country back on track.
At 7 p.m. Sept. 26 at the Richmond Hill City Center, the Bryan County Republican Party will sponsor a candidate forum where citizens will have the rare chance to interview and hear from the candidates that wish to represent us in Washington and Atlanta.   
This regional (multi-county) event will be moderated by WTOC’s Sonny Dixon and is open to all voters of South Georgia. Candidates for federal, state and local positions will be on hand for this rare presentation/interview process. You, the voter, need to know their views and the plans that the candidates will put in place if the voters of the 1st Congressional District give them the important role of representing us in Congress, Atlanta or in your local area. Meet, greet and ask the important questions before we hire (via voting) our next political  representatives. This is important, especially during these times.
