Dear Editor,
Tapestry Connections, Inc. was named CBO (Community-Based Organization) Partner of the Year by the Sickle Cell Foundation of Georgia on December 2, 2023. This accolade would not have been bestowed upon the organization if the local and surrounding communities had not supported the events and activities promoting sickle cell education and awareness. Most importantly, Tapestry has collaborated with local partners to spread the message about knowing your sickle cell status.
We thank our local partners, State Farm, Joseph Grant, Melissa Ray and Adam Herndon, Bishop Raymond Napper WGML, Top Ladies of Distinction, Inc. Diversity Health Center, Townsend Family Dental Center, American Red Cross, Keep Liberty Beautiful, and the City of Riceboro. Your partnership has elevated our organization and inspired us to reach new heights. We are equally grateful to all our community supporters, especially those who invited us to participate in their events, which allowed us to reach out to a large number of individuals with our sickle cell message.
Thanks to our sickle cell warriors and family, who know they are not alone because the community stands with them. The FDA just announced a significant step forward that might improve the lives of thousands of sickle cell warriors. They approved two gene therapy treatments for sickle cell warriors, CASGEY and LYFGENIA.
We want to express our sincere appreciation for your role in making Tapestry Connections an integral part of our community and that we are inspired by every single one of you. We wish you and your family a happy, healthy, safe, and joyous holiday season and a Happy New Year.
Dr. Deloris Mitchell,, PhD Founder and Executive Director, Tapestry Connections, Inc.
