Letter to the editor: Community’s generosity helps annual toy drive
letter to editor new

Dear Hinesville,

Your generosity and kindness have made a significant impact on the lives of countless children in our community. Through your selfless donations, we were able to provide joy and create lasting memories for those who may have otherwise gone without during this festive season. I would like to express my sincere appreciation for another successful toy drive. Saturday, December 9, the Hinesville community came together at Irene B. Thomas Park to benefit those in need in our community.

This year, we were able to provide over 28 families and 86 children with toys for Christmas. In addition to the toys each family received books and family games just in time for the holidays. Children 13 years and older received gift cards, toiletries, socks and slippers. We could not have achieved this without the outpouring of support from the generous members of our community. Your willingness to give back demonstrates the power we hold as a collective to make a positive difference in the lives of those less fortunate.

The continued success of this toy drive shows the true meaning of Christmas and why the spirit of giving is so important during the holiday season. Hinesville, I feel so blessed to be a part of a community that cares so deeply about its children and families.

We are looking forward to what 2024 brings as we continue to make a positive impact in the lives of others. We will see you all again next year!

Vicky Nelson, Hinesville City Council, District 3
