Editor, Each year around this time, the members of my post, East Liberty County American Legion Post 321, and I frequently are asked, “How are you going to honor the veterans of our community this year?”
The answer is not really hard to come by. First, we host the annual Veterans Day parade here in Liberty County. This year, we are holding the parade Nov. 16 in conjunction with the Hinesville Military Affairs Committee’s “Veterans Salute” event.
The parade will line up at Bradwell Institute between 8-9:45 a.m. and will move out promptly at 10 a.m. Following the parade, we will head to Bryant Commons on E. Oglethorpe Highway for the “Veterans Salute” event, which begins at noon.
Do you want to show your support for the members of our active-duty Army, Reservists, National Guard members and your veterans? First, have your organization participate in the parade, which is themed “Thanks for a job well done,” or stand along the parade route and cheer for these outstanding Americans. Then go on over to Bryant Commons for the Veterans Salute.
Our military members — current and past — have earned a day for themselves, and as Americans, we need to show them we truly care. So will you be at these events Saturday, Nov. 16?
